About Me

My name is Melanie.

I’m a Seattle girl who spent her first year out of college working for a translation company in Spokane. I graduated from Washington State University in 2008 (insert obligatory “Go Cougs!” here).

This blog is about me, and most recently, my decision to move back to Japan, where I lived from 2003-2004. I will be living in Ishikawa Prefecture in Chubu, far away from Nara, where I originally lived. Here, I will document to the little adventures, nuances and annoyances I experience throughout my life.

In case you haven’t gathered by reading I’m a huge nerd. More specifically, I’m a word nerd. I love words, I love letters, I love language, I do The New York Times crossword puzzle every day, play an unhealthy amount of Scrabulous and watch documentaries for fun. I have a cat named Pica. Enough said.

My Interests

Design, copy editing, reading, movies, concerts, music, softball, hiking, outdoors, swimming, Japan, foreign languages.
